Two Arrested in Connection to Silver Spring Armed Carjacking and Robbery

Silver Spring, MD — The Montgomery County Police Department has arrested Ruben Ramirez, 19, of Laurel, and Darrell Alvin Brown, 20, of Germantown, in connection with an armed carjacking and robbery that occurred on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

At approximately 2 AM, officers from the 2nd District responded to a report of an armed carjacking in the 1900 block of East West Highway. The investigation conducted by the Major Crimes Division revealed that an adult male victim had just parked and was walking to his apartment building when he was approached by three unknown male suspects: one Hispanic male and two Black males. One suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys, to which the victim complied. The other two suspects then demanded the victim’s phone. After handing over his phone, the victim ran to his apartment and called the police. The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s 2021 Toyota Camry.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the victim’s vehicle and two of the suspects, identified as Ramirez and Brown, were located and taken into custody without incident. A Glock 43 Gen X 9mm handgun was found near the front passenger seat at the time of the arrest.

Ramirez and Brown were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with armed robbery, armed carjacking, assault, and multiple counts of theft and firearm-related charges.
