Wife Poisoned Husband's Mountain Dew with RoundUp After 50th Birthday Party Disappointment

LACLEDE COUNTY, MO – A Missouri woman has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly poisoning her husband’s drink as a response to his lack of appreciation for a birthday party she organized.

47-year-old Michelle Y. Peters was arrested on Monday, facing one count each of first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. The charges followed her husband’s suspicion, confirmed by video evidence, that she had been spiking his Mountain Dew with Round Up weed killer.

The husband contacted the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, June 24, after noticing a recurring odd taste in his Mountain Dew starting around May 1, which led to severe health symptoms including sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, and the expulsion of a brown/yellow thick mucus. The symptoms only manifested from drinks consumed at home.

Further investigation led the husband to review footage from a camera in their garage, which confirmed his suspicions of tampering with the beverage.
