Brooklyn Man Among Two Arrested in Atlantic City Undercover Drug Decoy Operation

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—The Atlantic City Police Department has announced the arrest of two men, Eddie Taylor and Jorge Villafane Sr., for theft during an undercover operation on the Boardwalk.

The operation took place on June 24, 2024, involving a decoy purse left unattended by an undercover female officer to catch potential thieves.

Eddie Taylor, 43, from Brooklyn, NY, and Jorge Villafane Sr., 62, from Newfield, NJ, were apprehended after they attempted to steal the purse at different times. Taylor tried to conceal the purse with a jacket and walk away, while Villafane simply picked up the purse and walked off. Both men were found to have active warrants and were arrested on charges of theft.

Following their arrest, both suspects were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The police department has stressed that these charges are mere accusations, and like all defendants in criminal cases, Taylor and Villafane are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
