Stamford Firefighters Quickly Contain Multiple Vehicle Fire on Fairfield Avenue

STAMFORD, CT—This morning at 10:25 AM, the Stamford Fire Department responded to reports of several vehicles on fire at a local towing company on 400 Fairfield Avenue.

Upon arrival, Truck 3 from the West Side Fire Station was first on the scene, discovering multiple vehicles ablaze in the parking lot and storage area. Fortunately, the fire posed no threat to nearby buildings. Crews from Engine 2 and Engine 3 also responded promptly and efficiently managed to confine and control the fire.

Following the initial containment, firefighters spent an additional hour applying foam to manage gasoline leaking from a breached fuel tank of the vehicle where the fire originated. This quick action prevented further damage, although six adjacent vehicles did suffer moderate damage.

In total, 26 firefighters were involved in the operation, with no injuries reported among the responders. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) was called to the scene due to the use of foam in extinguishing the gasoline fire.

The Stamford Police Department and the Stamford Fire Department Mechanical Division provided additional support at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office.
