Buffalo Police Apprehend Suspect After Stolen Vehicle Incident

BUFFALO, NY—On Wednesday evening, Buffalo Police Department made an arrest following a dramatic incident involving a stolen vehicle on Donovan Drive. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Theophine Lubala of Cassadaga, NY, was charged with multiple offenses after crashing into two police vehicles and fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. when officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle. Lubala reportedly reversed into one police vehicle, drove forward into another, and then fled, forcing an officer to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. Erie County Sheriff’s Air I tracked the vehicle as it fled, leading to Lubala’s eventual stop and foot pursuit before his capture on the 400 block of Cambridge Avenue.

Lubala faces several charges, including two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, and one count of Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree—all felonies. Additional misdemeanor charges include Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Operation of a Motor Vehicle by an Unlicensed Driver, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
