ODENTON, MD — The Anne Arundel County Police Department has made a significant development in the homicide investigation of 27-year-old Isaiah Oludayo Olugbemi, who was fatally shot on the evening of June 17, 2024. Following extensive investigative efforts, detectives have arrested 36-year-old Nicholas Francis Xavier Giroux in connection with the murder.

The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Meadowmist Way and Stehlik Drive in Odenton. Responding officers found Olugbemi on the ground in the 500 block of Meadowmist Way, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers, Olugbemi was transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Local residents reported hearing multiple gunshots, leading investigators to believe that this was a targeted attack. Evidence and witness statements gathered led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Giroux, who is now facing charges of first and second-degree murder.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department continues to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding this tragic event, emphasizing that this appears to be a targeted incident rather than a random act of violence.
