NYC Man Arrested for Harassment and Hate Crime Against Young Muslim Girl

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department has announced the arrest of Robert Pierpont, a 40-year-old resident of East 51st Street, Manhattan. Pierpont was apprehended on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 7:55 AM within the confines of the 7th Precinct and faces charges of Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree and Harassment in the Second Degree.

On April 28, 2024, at approximately 12:00 PM, a 17-year-old female victim reported that while walking westbound on East 44th Street toward 2nd Avenue, an unidentified male forcibly removed her hijab and yelled at her. The suspect fled the scene heading north on Second Avenue. Thankfully, the victim did not sustain physical injuries, though the emotional and psychological impact of the attack is significant.
