PITTSBURGH, PA — Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus reported today that a North Side woman, Leslie Edwards, 48, faces new charges after deputies found suspected drugs in her possession during a court appearance.
Edwards was at the courthouse for a scheduled hearing in courtroom 521 when a deputy, aware of an active bench warrant and an arrest warrant from Ross Township, took her into custody. Following her arrest, Edwards was searched by two female deputies in the criminal court bullpen. She initially denied carrying weapons or contraband.
During the search, deputies discovered two suspicious items concealed in Edwards’ bra: a crack pipe with burn marks and white residue, and a vial containing a substance suspected to be cocaine or fentanyl.
Following these findings, Edwards was transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where she was arraigned on the charges from Ross Township as well as new charges related to the possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
