TRENTON, NJ – The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, has issued a Heat Advisory and an Excessive Heat Watch for parts of New Jersey, including Western Monmouth, Ocean, and Southeastern Burlington Counties. The Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 AM this morning until 6 AM EDT Thursday, with heat index values expected to reach up to 95 degrees. The Excessive Heat Watch will follow from Thursday morning through Sunday evening, with dangerously hot conditions and heat index values possibly climbing to 104 degrees.
These extreme heat and high humidity events significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid sun exposure, and check on relatives and neighbors. It is crucial never to leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures within minutes.
Today’s weather is expected to be sunny with a high near 89 degrees and a south wind of 5 to 10 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 64 degrees and the south wind continuing at 5 to 10 mph. On Wednesday, Juneteenth, the weather will be mostly sunny with a high near 91 degrees. A light southwest wind will shift to the south at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Patchy fog is expected after 2 AM on Wednesday night, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 64 degrees. The south wind will remain around 5 mph.
Thursday’s weather will start with patchy fog before 8 AM, followed by mostly sunny conditions and a high near 93 degrees, with a southwest wind of 5 to 10 mph. Thursday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 70 degrees. On Friday, expect mostly sunny and hot weather with a high near 97 degrees. Friday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 70 degrees.
Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 91 degrees, and Saturday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 70 degrees. Sunday’s weather will be partly sunny with a high near 93 degrees. On Sunday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 72 degrees.
