WILKES-BARRE, PA – A 17-year-old girl from Wilkes-Barre was arrested on charges of retail theft after allegedly stealing a “Champion” brand sweatshirt. The incident occurred at a store located at 15 South Main Street at approximately 3:54 PM on June 16, 2024.
Wilkes-Barre City Police responded to the theft report and upon arrival, store personnel informed them that the suspect had taken the sweatshirt and left the premises without paying. The officers quickly located the juvenile nearby, still wearing the stolen item.
Following her arrest, the teenager was transported to City Headquarters for processing. She was later released to a family member. The incident highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address retail theft in the community.
