Ohio Woman Plans To Buy Home With Adopted Daughter After $108k Lottery Win

CINCINNATI, OH — Anna Hall of Cincinnati experienced a stroke of luck that couldn’t have come at a better time. In the midst of arranging a home loan, Anna found herself worried about the potential debt. Her concerns vanished when she won a significant prize from the Ohio Lottery’s Lady Luck 50X scratch-off game.

“I was worried about the debt that the home loan would put me in, but I wanted to buy the home. I immediately called my loan officer and told him I just won some money and I’m not going to really need the loan anymore,” Anna shared.

Anna purchased her winning ticket at Shell 1231, located at 901 W 8th St. in Cincinnati. She recounted her excitement after scratching off the numbers at work, initially thinking she might have won a modest amount.

“I noticed it had 15 winners on there, but I kind of thought it was just a typical $10, right? $10 win,” she said. “So, I scratched the first one and saw it was $2,000. I honestly sat back from the desk and went to my coworker to check it. She confirmed it, and when I scratched the rest of them, I just started jumping up and down.”

After mandatory federal and state tax withholdings totaling 28%, Anna will take home approximately $108,000. Her winnings will not only enable her to purchase a home but also to plan for the future of her adopted daughter.

“I just adopted a baby. She’s eight months now, and I got her when she was three days old. So, I’m starting a college fund for her as well,” Anna said.
