After purchasing a $10 ticket, the winner, who chose not to reveal his identity, faced a moment of disbelief when he discovered he had won $250,000.

How it happened

Initially thinking he had lost because his numbers didn’t match the winning ones, the contractor scanned the ticket to verify. To his astonishment, the scanner confirmed his win. “I scanned it and it said that I won. I had to scan it again. I couldn’t believe it,” he explained, having missed the crucial “WINALL” moneybag symbol which signifies a win of all displayed prizes.

The windfall comes at a pivotal time for the winner, who is a father of two college students. He plans to use the funds to pay bills and support his children’s tuition. “I have been working hard to get where I am at and this definitely helps,” he shared, grateful for the financial relief the prize offers.

Where it happened

The winning ticket was purchased at Glen Echo Pharmacy in Bethesda. The pharmacy will also receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket. This marks the third occasion a player has won the maximum prize offered by the $250,000 Cash Winfall game.
