Baltimore Man Wins $500,000 Multi-Match Jackpot

by Erica Schmidt

Baltimore, MD – A Baltimore resident has become the fourth person in Maryland to hit the Multi-Match jackpot in 2024, winning $500,000 on June 3.

The winner, who claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters, plans to save most of his winnings for retirement. “I’m going to let it start to work for me,” he said.

Multi-Match is Maryland’s twice-weekly, in-state rolling jackpot game. Unlike multistate games, Multi-Match offers better odds, with a 1 in about 2 million chance of winning the jackpot per ticket, as each $2 ticket includes three sets of six numbers. This contrasts with Mega Millions and Powerball, which have much higher odds of winning.

While most of his winnings will be saved, the Baltimore winner intends to donate to charities supporting ALS research, feeding the hungry, a children’s hospital, and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). He also plans a little travel and a celebratory dinner.

The winning $2 quick-pick ticket was purchased at the Royal Farms on 930 Cromwell Park Drive in Glen Burnie. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a jackpot-winning ticket. This marks the fourth Multi-Match jackpot winner in 2024, following winners from Adelphi, Belcamp, and Baltimore.
