Maryland State Trooper Injured During Pursuit of Theft Suspects

DUNKIRK, MD — A Maryland State Trooper was injured after being struck by a vehicle involved in a high-speed chase following a theft incident. The event unfolded on Tuesday, June 11, around 4:02 p.m., when Calvert County deputies responded to a reported theft at the Harris Teeter on 10125 Ward Road in Dunkirk.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies spotted a white Nissan Altima with two males inside, speeding away with stolen goods. The pursuit escalated on Rt. 4 near Lower Marlboro Road as the suspects evaded an attempted traffic stop by local law enforcement including TFC Bauer, Trooper Bennett, and Lt. Tilley.

The chase continued through Huntingtown, where the suspects tried to ram a detective’s vehicle on Harvey Road. Further down Harvey Road at the intersection with MacArthur Drive, while attempting to deploy stop sticks, TFC Bauer was hit by the suspect vehicle as it swerved to avoid the obstacle.

The suspects, identified as Shadeed Gregory Graham, 23, of Capitol Heights; Malik Demencio Lewis, 27, of Hagerstown; and Jordan Green, 27, of Bowie, were apprehended shortly after. They face charges of Attempted First-Degree Murder, multiple counts of First-Degree Assault, Second-Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Theft ranging between $1,500 and $25,000.

All three suspects are currently held at the Calvert County Detention Center.
