SEAFORD, DE — Early this morning, Delaware State Police arrested two men, David Kelley, 21, of Bridgeville, and Colby Lecates, 23, of Laurel, on felony drug charges. The arrest followed a traffic stop on Concord Road, near Concord Pond Road in Seaford, at approximately 1:14 a.m.

A trooper initiated the stop after noticing an equipment violation on a silver Nissan Altima. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana and observed white smoke emanating from the car as the passenger window was lowered. Inside, the trooper found Colby Lecates with a tray of a green leafy substance on his lap, a large bong, and three bags of the same substance nearby.

Lecates was immediately taken into custody. A search revealed two additional plastic bags containing marijuana on his person. The driver, David Kelley, exhibited signs of impairment, leading to field sobriety tests and his subsequent arrest.

The comprehensive search of both individuals and their vehicle uncovered 211.61 grams of marijuana, 24.18 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 6.62 grams of THC wax, $308 in cash suspected to be drug proceeds, and various drug paraphernalia including digital scales and packaging materials. Both men are now facing multiple charges related to drug possession and distribution.
