Search for Hit-and-Run Suspect in Fatal Philadelphia Crash

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Philadelphia Police are actively searching for a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred late Wednesday night in the 24th District. The incident, which took place on the 1800 block of East Torresdale Avenue around 11:54 p.m., resulted in the death of a 44-year-old Black male pedestrian.

Investigators have identified a 2016-2020 silver or white Mitsubishi Outlander as the vehicle involved. It was last seen traveling east on Torresdale Avenue before fleeing north on the 4000 block after the collision. The vehicle is expected to have damage to its undercarriage and left front wheel well liner.

The victim was transported to Temple University Hospital by responding Philadelphia Fire Department medics but was pronounced deceased at 12:24 a.m. The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is handling the case and urges anyone with information about the crash or the suspect vehicle to contact them at 215-685-3180 or use the PPD’s tipline at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
