Montgomery County, MD – A Montgomery County resident made a memorable visit to Lottery headquarters last week, marking his first trip but one he anticipates making each time he purchases a ticket. The longtime scratch-off enthusiast was there to collect the largest prize he’s ever won — a whopping $50,000.
The data analyst shared with Lottery officials, “To be honest, I always have a lucky feeling whenever I buy a ticket.” He jokingly added, referring to his recent purchase of the Gold Rush 777 game, “There’s something about new games. They always feel extra lucky to me.”
The anonymous winner stopped by Columbia Road Exxon while running errands, selecting the $20 instant ticket because it was unfamiliar to him. When asked about his reaction upon discovering the $50,000 win in the Exxon parking lot, the Silver Spring man expressed, “My wife and I have not been on a proper vacation for so many years. It really is overdue. A vacation was the very first thing I thought of.”
Columbia Road Exxon, where the lucky ticket was purchased, is situated at 12601 Old Columbia Road in Silver Spring. Gold Rush 777, which debuted in the Lottery’s scratch-off catalog in late May, still boasts three of its four $1 million top prizes in circulation, along with five additional $50,000 winners and 84 $10,000 winners.
