Maryland Father Charged in Death of Two-Year-Old Son

OXON HILL – A child death investigation case in Oxon Hill has led to the arrest of Lance Harrison, 32, charged with the death of his two-year-old son, Kayceson Barkley. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged Harrison with first-degree child abuse resulting in death among other related offenses.

The incident unfolded early on the morning of June 9, when police were called to an apartment in the 5400 block of Livingston Terrace around 3:40 am. Upon arrival, officers discovered the toddler unresponsive and with multiple injuries. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

An autopsy conducted on Sunday revealed the child suffered multiple fractures, extensive bruising, and hemorrhaging, leading the medical examiner to report that some injuries were inconsistent with an accident.

The cause of death is pending further testing. The investigation has determined that Harrison had sole care and custody of his son at the time the injuries were inflicted.

Following consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, Harrison was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections.
