Jackson Thunder 8U Travel Team ended the spring 2024 official season in 3rd place with a record of 8-2. The first round of USABL playoffs was on June 9, 2024, and Jackson Thunder faced off against the Toms River Reapers. Thunder’s starting pitcher, N. Hussey, gave up one hit with zero runs over three innings. Jackson Thunder scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and 5 runs in the 2nd inning, making the score 7-0.
The Reapers fought back in the 4th inning, scoring 4 runs, but Jackson Thunder answered back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th. P. Ferraioli took the mound in the top of the 5th, allowing 0 runs. Jackson Thunder won the game 14-4 in the 5th inning thanks to great hitting from all!
There were 2 plays to be highlighted during the game, 1 being a double play made by P. Ferraioli from tagging first base then throwing out the runner at 2nd base, and an amazing throw from our catcher T. Kurc to get the tag at 3rd base on a steal attempt. Jackson Thunder showed up ready to play and ready to win; they all communicated well on the field and were in the zone. Shout out to the team’s coaching staff; Head Coach Keith Barnett, Assistant Coaches Todd Sinowitz, and Ed Hussey for leading the boys to victory with hard work and dedication all season long to keep the team in tip-top shape.
