Juvenile Arrested for Memorial Day Stabbing on Ocean City Boardwalk

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ – The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean City Police Department have announced the arrest of a juvenile in connection with a stabbing that occurred on the Ocean City boardwalk during Memorial Day weekend.

The incident unfolded on Saturday, May 25, around 9:12 PM when Ocean City Police responded to a 911 call about an assault on the boardwalk. A fight involving several juveniles led to one juvenile sustaining lacerations and a stab wound to the abdomen. The injured juvenile was promptly transported to Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City and received treatment for his injuries.

An extensive investigation was launched by both the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean City Police Department. Through witness interviews, surveillance footage, and other investigative methods, detectives were able to identify and locate a suspect. On Monday, the juvenile was apprehended with the assistance of the Hamilton Township and Pleasantville Police Departments in Pleasantville, NJ.

The suspect, whose name is withheld due to age, faces several charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault. He is currently held at a Juvenile Detention Facility awaiting further court proceedings.

Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland commended the cooperative efforts of the involved agencies, highlighting their dedication to maintaining community safety and bringing the responsible party to justice.
