FREDERICKSBURG, VA – A high-speed pursuit led to the arrest of a Philadelphia woman on June 2, when local deputies responded to reports of reckless driving around 12:35 p.m. Fauquier County authorities were alerted about a red Ford Mustang driving erratically and endangering a motorcyclist near Stafford.
First Sergeant J.D. Florendo, along with Deputies C.R. Szentkuti and A. De Hoyos, located the vehicle on Hartwood Road and attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver briefly halted before speeding off again, heading south on Warrenton Road. The pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped at a residence on the 1700 block of Warrenton Road.
Upon confrontation, the female driver mistakenly claimed the driveway as her own and resisted cooperation, mistakenly citing the third amendment to justify her actions and even brandishing a knife. To ensure no further escape attempts, deputies strategically placed spike strips and blocked the vehicle.
The situation escalated until First Sergeant Florendo used pepper spray, leading the driver to exit her vehicle. She was then detained without further resistance. The driver now faces charges including eluding police, obstruction of justice, and a traffic lane violation, and is held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $10,000 secured bond.
