FORKED RIVER, NJ—Kimmie, a young dog who has spent much of her life in a shelter, is ready for a fresh start with a loving family. Arriving at Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter in the summer of 2023 as a timid, skinny puppy lacking confidence and training, she has come a long way.

Despite her challenging upbringing in the shelter environment where she developed a few manageable habits, like being grabby during play, Kimmie has shown she can behave well. Now at the age of 1 1/2 years, she has successfully recovered from a toe amputation surgery and enjoys running and playing just like any other dog.

Kimmie would thrive in a home without young children and with an experienced family. She gets along with larger dogs but should be introduced slowly to new canine companions due to her limited socialization experience. Homes with no cats or small dogs are preferred for her.

This sweet, friendly, and loving dog just needs a chance to prove herself. Interested adopters can contact the shelter at 609-693-1900 or email office@ahsppz.org to request an application.
