MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ—A fire erupted in an Amazon delivery van on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at approximately 1:27 P.M., prompting a rapid response from local emergency services. The incident occurred at the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and Central Avenue in the Whiting section of Manchester Township.
Upon arrival, Manchester Township Police officers found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames. They immediately confirmed that the van was unoccupied, ensuring there was no immediate threat to the safety of nearby residents or motorists.
The Manchester Fire Department, assisted by the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, swiftly extinguished the blaze. Members of the Manchester Township Emergency Medical Services were also on the scene, although no injuries were reported.
Traffic on Manchester Boulevard was disrupted for about 30 minutes between Lakewood Avenue and Manchester Avenue due to the incident. Currently, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Initial assessments have not indicated any signs of suspicious activity. The Manchester Police Department, together with the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office, is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the fire.
