CALVERT COUNTY, MD—The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners recently honored the Stolen Vehicle Alert Team from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office with a Team Excellence Award. The award presentation recognized the team’s outstanding performance in a high-stakes operation on January 6, 2024.
Led by Sgt. Robshaw, the team engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Throughout the operation, the team displayed exemplary control and adherence to their training.
A significant contribution came from K-9 Stryker and his handler, DFC Chris Idol, whose tracking skills were pivotal in apprehending the suspects. Additionally, Cpl. Bortchevsky and Deputy Michael Daily utilized drones equipped with thermal detection, enhancing their ability to track and successfully arrest all involved suspects.
The ceremony celebrated the dedication and bravery of the team members in ensuring community safety. Among those recognized were Sheriff’s Communications Officer Lyndell Richardson, Deputy Joshua Newton, Detective Brenna Hudson, DFC Chris Idol, Master Deputy Richard Cress, Cpl. Robert Shrawder, F/Sgt.
Shawn Morder, Deputy Justin MacWilliams, Sgt. Mark Robshaw, and Lt. Col. Dave Payne. Also present were Commissioners Mike Hart, Ricky Cox, Catherine Grasso (Vice President), Earl F. “Buddy” Hance (President), Todd Ireland, and Mark Cox Sr.
