UTICA, NY – Late Monday night, Utica Police responded to a call regarding a possible child abuse case at a home located on the 1200 block of City Street. Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:50 PM and were greeted by a concerned family member worried about the welfare of two young children, ages 4 and 5.
The responding officers made contact with individuals inside the residence and observed clear signs of physical abuse on the children. Vianka Ramirez, a 29-year-old resident of Utica and the mother of the children, was taken to the Utica Police Department for questioning.
After her interview and the evidence gathered, Ramirez faces charges of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
