WEEHAWKEN, NJ – Commuters experienced significant delays entering New York City via the Lincoln Tunnel on Tuesday morning. Initial reports of congestion started at 6:09 AM, with conditions worsening by the last update at 8:28 AM.
The Port Authority of NY/NJ reported 45-minute travel times from the New Jersey Turnpike Exit 16E to the New York side for both the center and south tubes of the Lincoln Tunnel. All lanes remained open despite the delays.
Additionally, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority noted delays on the New Jersey Turnpike – Eastern Spur eastbound, particularly at the Exit ramp at Interchange 16E near NJ 3/Lincoln Tunnel, beginning at 6:22 AM and persisting until the latest update at 8:35 AM. NJ DOT – STMC reported 20-25 minute travel times on NJ 3 eastbound between East of Meadowlands Parkway and NJ 495 at Lincoln Tunnel.
If travelers plan to use these corridors into New York City today, they are advised to allow extra time or seek alternate routes.
