Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Spring Lake Heights Under Investigation

FREEHOLD, NJ—Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Spring Lake Heights, as announced by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago and Spring Lake Heights Police Chief Edward W. Gunnell. The incident took place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, around 1:20 PM, at the intersection of Old Mill Road and Allaire Road.

According to the investigation, a 70-year-old male driver, operating a 2023 Nissan Rogue, was making a left turn from the southbound lane of Old Mill Road onto eastbound Allaire Road when he struck an 85-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing Allaire Road at the time. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:56 PM.

The driver involved in the collision stayed at the scene following the incident. The investigation is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Spring Lake Heights Township Police Department.
