QUEENS, NY—An attempted robbery turned violent on Wednesday afternoon in Queens, resulting in severe injuries for a 44-year-old man.
The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. when an unknown assailant attacked the victim from behind in an effort to steal a bag filled with US currency.
The assailant, who is yet to be apprehended, brandished a black firearm during the struggle, using it to pistol-whip the victim multiple times. This brutal assault resulted in lacerations to the victim’s head, stomach, knee, and elbow. Despite the violence, the assailant failed to secure the bag and fled the scene in a black Honda 2-door sedan, heading eastbound on Henley Road.
The victim was promptly transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center by EMS and is reported to be in stable condition. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 25 years old, with a dark complexion, around 6 feet tall, of slim build, and sporting long black dreadlocks.
He was last seen wearing a tan jacket, white shirt, tan pants, and a black face mask. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
