Pittsburgh Man Charged for Reserve Township Bank Robbery

PITTSBURGH, PA—County police have arrested a Pittsburgh man, Mark Laughner, 38, on charges related to a bank robbery that occurred on May 16 in Reserve Township.

The incident took place around 2:30 PM at a bank on Mt. Troy Road. Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit were called to assist with the investigation following the robbery report. Laughner reportedly approached a teller, demanded money, and threatened the employee while implying he was armed.

Authorities were able to secure surveillance footage that captured Laughner fleeing toward Pittsburgh. Further video evidence and witness statements helped identify him as the suspect. On Wednesday, detectives found Laughner on Spring Garden Avenue. After a brief chase into a wooded area, he was apprehended with the help of a K9 unit.

Laughner is now facing charges of robbery, terroristic threats, and simple assault. He is being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
