Half-Million Dollar Powerball Ticket Sold in Lackawanna County

MIDDLETOWN, PA — A Powerball ticket purchased in Lackawanna County has won $500,000 in the latest Powerball drawing with the Double Play option.

The winning ticket, sold at Tobacco King, 1150 Northern Boulevard, South Abington Township, matched all five Double Play balls—5, 38, 39, 41, 69—in the Monday, May 20 drawing.

The ticket missed the Double Play Powerball number 25 but still secured the $500,000 prize before taxes.

Tobacco King will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The Pennsylvania Lottery notes that the Double Play option, which allows another chance to win up to $10 million with the same numbers in a separate drawing, was introduced as part of the Powerball enhancements that began with the addition of a third weekly drawing on Mondays in August 2021.

Drawings now take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
