SOMERVILLE, NJ — Somerset County authorities have announced the conviction of 19-year-old Yahmir Brown for second-degree aggravated assault. The Somerset County Jury delivered the verdict on May 10, finding the Franklin Township resident guilty.
The charges stem from an incident on November 23, 2022, when Brown, alongside a juvenile co-defendant, assaulted a local business employee on Hamilton Street, Franklin Township. The assault resulted in the victim suffering multiple facial fractures. A joint investigation was conducted by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Franklin Township Police Department.
During the trial, the state was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Rory A. Eaton and Litigation Paralegal Maria Ducca. The case was overseen by Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather.
Brown now faces a mandatory prison sentence under the No Early Release Act, requiring him to serve 85% of the term before eligibility for parole.
