GAITHERSBURG, MD – A 16-year-old, Nytrell Tyshawn Parrish, has been arrested and charged as an adult with multiple offenses related to a series of armed robberies in Bethesda. Parrish, who is currently without a known address, was apprehended on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
The initial incident occurred on Sunday, May 12, at the Tobacco Hub located in the 7800 block of Old Georgetown Road. According to police reports, Parrish entered the store around 2:08 p.m., inquired about vape products, and subsequently brandished a handgun to coerce the store employee into handing over the items. He returned to the same store approximately an hour later, this time demanding and fleeing with cash and additional items.
The following day, on May 13, Montgomery County Police responded to another armed robbery at Geste Food & Wines on Edgemoor Lane. Here too, Parrish allegedly used a similar modus operandi, asking about vape products before revealing a handgun and taking cash from the register. Surveillance footage from this robbery linked him to the previous day’s crimes at Tobacco Hub.
On Tuesday, May 14, Parrish reportedly targeted Geste Food & Wine once again, executing a similar armed robbery and escaping with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, utilizing surveillance video and other investigative means, successfully connected Parrish to each of these crimes. He has been charged with four counts of armed robbery and four counts of using a firearm in a violent crime, among other related charges.
Parrish is being held without bond as he awaits further proceedings.
