Virginia Cops Issue 368 Tickets During Thursday Traffic Enforcement Operation

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA — The Albemarle County Police Department, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, conducted an extensive traffic enforcement initiative along U.S. Route 29 on May 16.

The operation, which lasted from 7 am to 7 pm, involved the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Charlottesville Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

During the 12-hour period, officers conducted a total of 355 traffic stops, resulting in 368 summonses for various violations. The most common infractions included speeding, with 185 citations, and registration or inspection issues, with 86 violations. Other noted violations were for reckless driving, cellphone use while driving, driving without a license or with a suspended license, and running red lights.

Additional tickets were issued for seat belt, move over, and equipment violations. Notably, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office also made an arrest for DUI.
