SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – At a recent ceremony, Suffolk County Police Deputy Commissioner Belinda Groneman was honored as “Woman of the Year” by the Suffolk County Association of Women Police. The event took place on Tuesday night, recognizing her significant contributions to the department.
A retired SCPD detective, Groneman has leveraged her extensive experience and dedication in her executive role to advance the department’s goals. Known for her strong work ethic, she is often the last to leave the office. Additionally, Officers Alisa Cipolla and Melissa Henry, along with Suffolk County Department of Probation Officer Jen Elflein, received the Distinguished Perseverance Award for their exceptional resilience and dedication.

Suffolk County Police Officers Alisa Cipolla and Melissa Henry, as well as Suffolk County Department of Probation Officer Jen Elflein, were also honored with the Distinguished Perseverance Award. Officer Cipolla, who had open heart surgery in November of 2022, returned to work less than a year later in June of 2023. When offered a less taxing assignment she refused, going back to her previous beat in Brentwood and Central Islip. Officer Henry continually shows her commitment to the residents of the First Precinct, remaining on active duty while battling leukemia.

The ceremony was hosted by TOA Asian Fusion, celebrating the achievements of these distinguished individuals.
