ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY—Local students from Fieldstone Middle School were given a firsthand look at the criminal justice system during a tour of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday.

The visit provided the 8th graders with an opportunity to learn about the role and responsibilities of the office.

The students met with several Assistant District Attorneys, including District Attorney Tom Walsh, who introduced them to the fundamentals of prosecuting crimes and the importance of balancing justice for victims with the rights of the accused. The visit also included an educational session with Judge David Fried in his courtroom and a talk on the significance of jury duty by Commissioner of Jurors Sabrina Greco.

To conclude their visit, the students engaged in a mock arraignment, gaining practical insight into court proceedings. This immersive experience highlighted the complexities of the legal system and emphasized the community’s role in upholding justice.
