GREENSBURG, PA — The Greensburg Police Department has charged Christopher Degnan, 44, with multiple offenses following a hit-and-run incident that severely injured an elderly woman. After a detailed investigation, the arrest occurred on Friday, May 17, 2024.
On December 28, 2023, police responded to an accident scene at the intersection of South Main Street and West Third Street, where they discovered an elderly woman with significant head injuries amid roadway debris. Evidence at the scene, including a part from a ‘Honda’ vehicle, led investigators to believe the woman was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Surveillance footage from a nearby bank and the courthouse helped police identify a white Honda CR-V, later linked to Degnan, who was involved in the incident. When questioned,
Degnan initially claimed he thought he had hit a pothole. However, further investigation and evidence from the vehicle supported the hit-and-run theory. The victim has undergone six surgeries and is currently in a rehabilitation facility due to the extent of her injuries.
