Newark Police Seek Suspect in Armed Robbery of Salvation Army Thrift Shop

Newark, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a female suspect linked to a business robbery that took place on Wednesday, May 15. The incident occurred at the Salvation Army Thrift Store & Donation Center on Pennington Street near New Jersey Railroad Avenue around 4 p.m.

Employees intervened when the suspect tried to leave without paying for $100 worth of merchandise, causing a physical altercation where a female worker was pushed to the ground. The suspect managed to escape by unlocking the door and fleeing westbound on Pennington Street. The injured victim was promptly taken to St. Michael’s Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Authorities describe the suspect as wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans, and a black hat.
