Hollywood Star Attacked on Streets of New York City Weeks After His Co-Star Assaulted in Central Park

NEW YORK, NY—Actor Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Manhattan late Wednesday morning, resulting in injuries to his face. The incident occurred on a New York City street, and Buscemi was subsequently hospitalized with bruising, swelling, and bleeding to his left eye.

According to a statement from his publicist on Sunday, the 66-year-old star of “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire” was a victim of a random act of violence. “He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes,” the publicist noted. The New York Post was the first to report the assault.

The New York Police Department stated the assault but did not initially identify Buscemi as the victim. His representative confirmed it on Sunday. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police investigation is ongoing.

In a related incident, Michael Stuhlbarg, Buscemi’s co-star from “Boardwalk Empire,” was attacked in Central Park on March 31. Stuhlbarg pursued his assailant, leading to an arrest outside the park.
