Bensalem, PA – Early Saturday morning, on the 11th of May, police in Bensalem conducted a traffic stop on a white Nissan Maxima due to vehicle code violations. The driver, identified as Robert Rice, showed signs of possessing raw marijuana without a medical card, leading officers to search the car. Despite initial resistance, law enforcement discovered a firearm and drugs within the vehicle.
In a search sanctioned by a warrant, officers found a Taurus .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun and drug-related paraphernalia, including baggies and a digital scale.
Following a background check, it was revealed that Robert Rice had a criminal record that prevented him from legally owning a gun. As a result, Rice was charged with several offenses, including possession of a controlled substance and a firearm without the necessary permits.
Presented before District Justice Brian Marriott in Richboro, the defendant faced a high bail of 10% of $50,000, leading to his remand at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
