Los Angeles, CA – A 14-year-old girl in California was taken into custody on Monday for allegedly murdering Kendra McIntyre, the daughter of a human trafficking survivor, who was shot in South Los Angeles in March.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest in connection with the case via a news release.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has charged the juvenile with murder following the death of McIntyre on March 21 around 4:20 a.m. The LA County Medical Examiner revealed that McIntyre succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and neck. McIntyre, originally from Fresno, was killed in an area notorious for gang control.
McIntyre’s mother, Debra Rush, a survivor of sex trafficking, expressed her devastation at the news of her daughter’s death and the fact that a 14-year-old girl was implicated in the murder.
Rush, who founded Fresno’s Breaking the Chains organization to help those affected by human trafficking, honored her daughter’s memory in a heartfelt social media post, reminiscing about their shared loves and sorrow at the situation.
