Groundbreaking Set for Monmouth Square: A $500 Million Redevelopment Project
EATONTOWN, NJ — A major redevelopment initiative is set to begin at the site of the former Monmouth Mall, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Thursday, May 9th at 11 AM. This event marks the start of construction on Monmouth Square, a transformative project valued at over $500 million.
New Jersey State Senator Vin Gopal, Eatontown Mayor Anthony Talerico, and principals from Kushner will lead the ceremony. They will be joined by other officials and dignitaries to celebrate the commencement of this ambitious project.
Monmouth Square will feature 900,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, including a Whole Foods Market, and will introduce 1,000 residential units and medical office space into the area. The project will also feature an expansive public green and a network of pedestrian pathways, aiming to modernize and redefine the community space.
The redevelopment plan involves demolishing approximately 600,000 square feet of existing retail space to reduce the overall retail footprint by 40%, signaling a significant shift from traditional mall structures to a more open-air town center concept.
The May 9th event will include speeches from key stakeholders, displays of project renderings, and a ceremonial groundbreaking photo opportunity.
