MILLBURN, NJ — Adam Idrovo from Good Shepherd Academy in Nutley and Emily Ortiz from Lafayette Street School in Newark have been declared winners of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s (PDFNJ) Fourth Grade Folder Contest for the 2023-2024 school year. The competition drew entries from thousands of fourth-grade students across New Jersey, aiming to promote drug-free lifestyles through creative expression.
The contest’s theme, “Fun Things to Do Instead of Drugs,” encouraged participants to illustrate positive alternatives to drug use, showcasing their artistic skills and understanding of healthy lifestyle choices. Adam and Emily’s compelling artwork earned them top honors, resonating deeply with the contest’s judges for its creativity and impactful messaging.
Their winning entries will be featured on folders that will be distributed to schools throughout the state, serving as a visual reminder of the importance of staying drug-free. Angelo Valente, Executive Director of PDFNJ, praised the young winners for their artistic talent and leadership in promoting health and happiness among their peers. The awards were presented during a virtual ceremony held on Thursday, May 9, celebrating the achievements of these young artists.
