President Joe Biden kicked off this week’s Medal of Freedom ceremony by mumbling incoherently before his esteemed guests. Luckily, the White House provided a transcript to help translate the president’s slurred speech.
“You know, I always kid, I went to — I was taught by the Norbertines in — in a public school. Well, you know, they always were worried we were going to go to Jesuit colleges because they said you guys are too liberal,” is what the President actually said here.
He might have even said, “As a kid”. You decide.
It is uncertain if Delaware public schools allowed Norbertines to teach in public schools in their official capacity or if the President is once again confusing two stories from the same period, but it doesn’t matter. According to his biography, Biden did not attend public high school, graduating from the Archmere Academy, a Roman Catholic college prep school founded by the Norbertines.
President Joe Biden has garnered attention for his public remarks that mix personal anecdotes with humorous asides. In a notable instance, Biden joked about his education background, playfully musing that he was taught by the Norbertines in a public school setting, which traditionally does not occur. He humorously added that the Norbertines were concerned about students attending Jesuit colleges, labeling them as “too liberal.”
