NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Pro-Palestinian protesters have taken over Rutgers University as officials refused to let a pro-Jewish group host a barbecue as they fulfill the demands of the protesters.
Although the pro-Palestinian protest is allowed to continue, the university told Jewish students they could not hold the event because no events are allowed to be held after the last full day of classes on April 29.
According to the NY Post, the Kosher BBQ was meant to be a celebration for Jewish students to mark the end of a long school year.
On other campuses across America, the protesters have barred Jewish students from attending class, attacked Jewish students, and shut down classes.
In New Jersey, pro-Hamas protesters want the university and the state to stop doing business with Jewish owned companies. In fact, after the BBQ was forced off-campus, it was catered by Bridge Turkish and Meditteranean Grill. That business was then flooded with hate mail, negative reviews, and one stars.
Students at Rutgers also chanted, “Israel must fall” in a video published to X.
When asked about the unrest at Rutgers, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy had very little to say.
“It’s complicated, no question about it,” Phil Murphy said during a high-tech iniative press conference.
The governor did not say anything else regarding the matter.
