Washington D.C. Man Sentenced for 2020 Fatal Shooting of Ex-Girlfriend

WASHINGTON, DC – Carson Posey, 24, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the 2020 murder of Shantal Hill, announced U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela A. Smith. The incident occurred on April 15, 2020, in front of the Tyler House Apartments in Northwest Washington, D.C.

Posey pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed on September 29, 2023. Superior Court Judge Michael O’Keefe also imposed a five-year supervised release following the prison term. According to court documents, following a heated argument with a third person, Posey shot Hill, his ex-girlfriend, nine times. The attack targeted her legs, buttocks, and chest.

Despite receiving immediate aid, Hill succumbed to her injuries shortly after midnight on April 16, 2020.
