Newark, DE – Delaware State Police apprehended 22-year-old Lewis Flowers of Newark, Delaware, following a shoplifting incident that escalated into a robbery at a Newark Shoprite. Authorities responded on Thursday afternoon to the store’s location on 19 Chestnut Hill Plaza in Newark after Flowers was observed concealing items and attempting to exit without payment, leading to a physical altercation.
Flowers was taken into custody without further issue, while a store employee required minor medical attention following the scuffle.
Flowers was transported to Troop 2 and charged with first-degree felony robbery before being arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2. He has since been detained at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $20,000 cash bond.
