TRENTON, NJ—A fatal shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday night is currently under investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department, as reported by Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri.
Responding to a ShotSpotter alert for multiple gunshots at around 7:45 PM on May 1, Trenton police arrived at the intersection of Prospect Street and Pennington Avenue. At the scene, they found two male victims with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, Chevaughn Fagan, 28, from Trenton, was located in a side parking lot at 812 Prospect Street, suffering from multiple injuries. The second victim, Jerome Francis, 43, of Hamilton, was found in the driver’s seat of a heavily damaged blue Infiniti QX60, also with gunshot wounds to the chest.
Both victims were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where they were pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. At the crime scene, investigators discovered three handguns, two cell phones, and numerous shell casings.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation continues.
