Community members and loved ones have raised thousands of dollars for a Philadelphia mom badly injured in a hit-and-run last Wednesday. Darlene Wilson was struck twice by a driver who fled the scene while walking home from work in University City around 3:45 p.m.
Wilson was found unresponsive after the accident and was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in a serious but stable condition, according to her daughter, Leeloni Velazquez-Butler. “
Her daughter said, the extent of her injuries are serious and she does not have medical insurance,
Velazquez-Butler revealed on Friday that her mom underwent emergency pelvic surgery and is currently in high spirits. She expressed concerns about the financial aspect but vowed to ensure her mother receives the best care possible.
