On Nov. 14, 2023, a military police officer involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot pleaded guilty to assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers.

Gregory Yetman, 47, admitted his actions before the U.S. District Chief Judge. Yetman, an enlisted military police officer with the U.S. Army National Guard, joined a mob of rioters at the U.S. Capitol building after attending a then-President Trump rally in Washington, D.C., as detailed in court documents.

In the chaotic scene just before 2:30 p.m., Yetman sprayed OC spray at police officers under siege by rioters, leading to their retreat. He proceeded to the Lower West Terrace as rioters attempted to breach the Capitol. Federal authorities attempted to apprehend Yetman for his participation in the Capitol insurrection on Nov. 8, 2023.

Witnessing officers, Yetman tried to flee into his home before escaping into nearby woods, leaving behind a knife and cell phone.

An ensuing search of Yetman’s property uncovered multiple firearms, sizable amounts of ammunition, as well as additional weapons stored elsewhere. Following a two-day manhunt, Yetman surrendered to local law enforcement on Nov. 10, 2023. Such developments indicated the ongoing legal ramifications for those involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, shedding light on the consequences faced by participants more than two years after the events unfolded.
