Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Gloucester Township, New Jersey

Gloucester Twp, NJ – In connection with the fatal shooting of Nasir Tart, a 24-year-old resident of Gloucester Township, New Jersey, Hasan Battie, aged 21, from the same area, has been charged. The incident took place on April 16, within the LaCascata development in Gloucester Township, as revealed by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins. Tart was found with a gunshot wound by Gloucester Township Police officers who responded to a call about a person shot at 5:27 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene by 5:50 p.m. the same day.

The investigation into the shooting was conducted by detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office of New Jersey Homicide Unit and Gloucester Township Police Department. Battie faces charges of first-degree Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in relation to the death of Tart. United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division took him into custody in Camden City on April 22.

Battie is currently detained at Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
